    Help me build my S50

Well, I acquired an S50 cylinder head this weekend. You should have seen the E36 M3 this guy had in his garage. AA turbo and soooooooo much other stuff done to it, putting down 400 hp to the ground.

Here is what the head contains:

    cylinder head port/polish job
stainless steel valves with 3 angle job
    titanium valve spring retainers
    high tension valve springs
    heat treated keepers
    vanos unit

    Head still needs:

    cams
    hydraulic lifters
    cam/lifter carriers
    sprokets
    other misc. stuff like injectors

Basics of what I want out of the engine:

under 3.0 L so I can keep the car in DSP for autocrossing
    naturally aspirated
    still streetable

What I'm thinking for the build (help me out with this):

    Mild Schrick cams
    2.8 L M50 aluminum block maybe bored out to 2.9 L?
    UUC lightened pulleys
    some JE pistons?
Maybe do the HFM/Schrick Cams/Jim C. chip combo from Turner, but that's really expensive

I'm thinking it would be cheaper to buy a complete 2.8 engine with all of the accessories rather than go and search out all of these parts individually.

I'm open to suggestions, that's what this post is for. :)

from what you say I doubt very much you will be in DSP as I have only 4 points to spare before I goto CSP.

What do you have done to your car? What's this point system? I don't know anything about points in the SCCA. I always just went by the information on this site:

Mine was according to BMW chapter rules. So I am in DS or DR depending on tires I run.

My BMW chapter (Windy City Chapter) goes by points too, but they do not have anything in the rules about engine swaps. They'd probably throw me into AA class (their highest). The BMWCCA in Chicago isn't very competetive though...pretty laid back.

            Another thing I forgot:
I definitely want to do a lightened flywheel because I love mine on my eta right now. I have been told that the single mass flywheel from the M20 will work on the M50 engines, is this correct? If so, do I need to use an M20 clutch as well?
            Thanks!

UUC unit flywheel and this spec clutch sounds nice. I just read a article on them in Eurotrash at Barnes and Noble yesterday. Had to escape the germ ridden room.

you need to use an m20 starter. I have a JBR 8lb flywheel and love it, it's combined with an e30 m3 clutch

to answer your question more thoroughly, yes, it will work... if you use an m52/s52 block it will need to be shaved
