    Paging dirtbike gurus

Im having a problem with my bike.

It sat for 6 months without starting. 1995 Kawasaki KX125, 2 stroke, you know the drill. Kicked it over a few times and it started without much hassle. Ran for about a minute, bogged out, then shut off. Pulled the air filter, it was ok. Pulled the plug, it was all sorts of gunked up. Cleaned it off, reinstalled, and bike started right up. Bike ran for about a minute again, and bogged out just like the first time. Whats my next step? Im leaning towards trying to rejet/rebuild the carb, but im not sure. 6 months ago, I rode it up and down the street a few times without issue.

My 76 yamaha 175 enduro does the same thing. It is a carb issue. it proboply need cleaned out and freshened up. Then needs tuned in.

You probably have clogged you carb jets (especially the pilot jet which lives in gas and has the smallest opening). Your float valve is probably also sticking. Buy a rebuild kit for your carb.

          no stabil.

im guessing carb rebuild, the carb was leaking out the bottom ALOT, im guessing the bowl was full and it was just overflow.

Stuck needle and seat. Engine is running WAY to rich, causing the plug to foul and for the engine to stall. Not to mention the gas overflow. Rebuild is necessary.

yeah, i pulled the plug after the second shutoff, and it was moist, smelling of gas. i assumed it was pretty rich.

Don't think you need to rebuild the carb, just a major dissasembly and cleanup will do the trick.

While you are at it try tinkering with the main jet size, it does miracles on the KX.

I don't know if the 1995 model had this, there is a sort of box between the carb and the cylinder that has metal baffles, in spanish they are called "laminas", those are vacuum operated, and they open and close to flatten your power curve, to give you more power on the low rpm range. Those tend to stick too, so you need to clean that also, usually they were located in between the cylinder and the intake tube.

If you remove the carb and look into the cylinder you should see them blocking the view of what's inside, if there is nothing there, it just applies to older bikes.

they fucked up my zender front valence (cracked in about 4 places), and the tailpipes look as centered as a chinese downsyndrome child's eyes.

i was surprised, since everyone and their mom refered me to this place. I told this inbred son of a bitch that it needed a new muffler, he thought he could pull some magic, and tweak the M50 stock exhaust and bend it to fit. It definately doesnt fit, as I told him originally that it wouldnt. last time I go there.
