Keeping track of expenses...

How many of you keep track of the $ you are dumping into your car? Both on mods and maintenance? I never did for my first e30, but I must have put about 10K into it not counting the 5K I bought it for in 1994.

I am keeping track of my 325is expenses in an Excel sheet. WOW! It is wild how fast things add up!

Yea, I've got receipts of ALL the parts I've bought for my car, from motor to gaskets to bolts. I don't like to add it up.

I'm keeping the stickers with the part numbers on them in a notebook with the price of each, in case I need to order another one or someone asks me what the part number is for a particular part on my car.

Kewl idea. I am not sure how I would get the numbers off some of the crap I have bought.

i gave up. it just makes it hurt more when you sell it and get 1/3 what you have into it. i keep track of maintenance intervals only

Blunt: +1, but the way to avoid that is to just keep it, but alas it is still depressing to know that you would only get ~1/3 of what you put into it. :(

i made an exel sheet for all 3 of my bmw's. i cry sometimes when i look at how much i have spetn and then i cry even more when i look at how much more i need to spend to get the cars the way i want them. here are some pics of my sheet. its all formulated and has macros i just type stuff in and it does the set and it also tells me when i need to perform service in case i forget. if anyone would like to use this let me know and i can email you a copy.

oh yea i keep gas records too to track milage and mpg. that is the one in the first pic.

I have a bank account/debit card for the car(s). This makes it pretty easy to keep track of how much I spend, but I also use the card for fuel etc. Pretty easy to filter out that from parts however.

On the dd I'm getting into the 2k-3k range :pimp:

Somewhere around 11k into my turbo car including purchase price. I have about 5k including purchase price in my eta.. and god knows how much into my 2002...and it surely isn't showing..
