turbo guys need your help about 3000gt V6

my buddy has a V6 3000gt not a vr4 unfortuntely. anyway he wants to put a turbo on it, he already has most of the parts but he wasn't sure what size waste gate he needs. he has a super 70 turbo, he said he is going to get a tial wastegate but they come in a bunch of different sizes. 35, 38, 40, and so on. so if any of you can help or explain how you decide what size wastegate it would be helpful.

since is a 3000L may be he should look for the 40mm or at least the 38mm wastegate, he will use only one Turbo?

I'd get a big one (40+). With a super 70 you'll need to get rid of extra exhaust gas asap to prevent over boosting. Of course, it really depends on how much boost you'll be running. If you're running something close to the limit of the turbo then you don't need AS serious a wastegate, but if you're running a big turbo (like a super 70) at low boost, you'll need something serious. anyway, i woudln't go lower than 40mm, i think the next step up is a 46 or something, and they're about 200 dollars more or so...

So the big question is how much boost?

i think he said he wanted to run 10-12 then rebuild it to run ridiculous numbers. but for now i'd say in that range.
