    Dashboard cost $$

What should I expect to pay for a crack-free dashboard? I would rather not buy a new one from the Fatherland for $600. My interior is out, my doors are off, now is the time I guess.

    Thanks,

    kroberts

A normal price here would be no more than 100-120$ for a clean one.

Just treat it before installing it, I've seen perfect dashboards cracking a week after the install because they were "dry". A few passes with a lubricant or dashboard protector or something like that will do a great job protecting it.
It's not an old car. It's an old friend.

I have not seen any on here in some time, but then again I really have not looked lately either, but I have seen them on EBAY going lately for around $400 with shipping which is stupid as hell for a used dash !!! I bought a used one about 5 months ago for $160 on EBAY used and now I have a very slight crack in my dash now but if they are costing that much now used I will hold out until my crack gets bad enough to mess with and then swap it again for a NEW dash this time !!!!....

Seems like they USED to go for $100, maybe a little more. BUT from what I've seen, uncracked E30 dashes are becoming REALLY hard to find- so you better buy one NOW rather than waiting for the price to come down, because I don't think that's gonna happen.

I would say that a couple of years ago, roughly 1/2 of the E30 parts cars I saw had uncracked dashes, now it's probably more like 1/10 or less. This is from my personal experience- NOT something I heard or saw online..... ;)

I saw one in a junkyard in Boise, ID (uncracked) and he said if I pulled it (and he specifically told me I wouldn't want to pull it - cause he obviously knows what I would and would not want to do - the only reason junk yards piss me off - he almost refused to give me a price!) he would charge me $70 for it. I thought that was pretty damn fair considering he was going to charge me $50 for a kidney grill!!!

Doubt it's there anymore, but just to give you an idea. ;)

God, I would love to get a brand-new OEM dashboard. Jordan put one in a customer's car when he was working for Sayther in Texas, he said it was REALLY nice, made out of the stuff new BMW dashboards are made of.

*adds new OEM dashboard to future purchase list*

It's there along with 5lug conversion, massive BBK, VERY RARE 24v M20 head, and new paint job. :P

Give me 10 years, and my list will consist of other, more expensive things.

It's been speculated that that 24V M20 head doesn't even actually exist. I don't know of anyone that's ever even seen one in front of them. The theory is that they were never actually even put into production.

Awww....really? Well shit. I saw the picture, and I was set on finding one - even if it meant that someday when I'm a millionaire I'd spend 50 grand just on a head. LOL Way to burst my bubble, Josh.

Oh, and sorry to threadjack. Shit.

Used dashboard's would work fine in most cases! :)

If you have that kind of money, give a machine shop the picture and a briefcase full of money and say "Go".

Somebody should have Patrick at BMA check on the price of a new one for us!

So I guess me paying roughly $20 for an uncracked dash was good? ;)

I paid $80 for one about 4 months ago. Check your local Craigslist autoparts listings...

I have a crack free dash in 02806 - $100 if you remove it... If it cracks within 3 months I'll give you your money back. I'm not shipping, I'm not removing it and you can't break the windshield to remove it (unless we arrange for you to remove it the day before I have the shell towed to the junkyard which could be a month away) Sorry for the FS hijack. No I will not remove it and I will not ship it.
