Now read and learn. This is how to be RESPECTFUL, and end up getting out of your ticket. This is the way I get warnings, no joke.

That has always been common knowledge, but some people never seem to follow it. I got out of a ticket the other day by admitting guilt and then actually telling him the speed limit, etc. He just ran my license then let me go. First time I was ever fully let off, but I have had them give me a lesser ticket, like no insurance, or failure to follow a speed sign. Come to think of it I have gotten pretty lucky and then again not so lucky when it comes to cops.

I've only been pulled over once, and I followed those words to a T except admitting fault. I received a "failure to stop" ticket. I'm sure I could have gotten a reckless for pulling out really fast to beat a huge line of traffic because I did come out fast.

Unfortunately I beat out a line of traffic which had a statie right at the front. :(

Admit you were wrong, maintain eye contact to show you understand, take whatever lesson they give you and NEVER argue. It never ceases to amaze me that grown adults will still insist on arguing and shouting, as if that will get them anything.

it depends on the officer. i adhered to that article perfectly in one instance, even told him how fast i was going. still got the full ticket...

I agree with all of that except admitting guilt. The second you admit guilt you are screwed in court if you end up getting a ticket, which will probably happen to all of us sooner or later. Being respectful to the officer is by far the most important part, but I urge you to let the officer understand that you are paying attention and care without admitting guilt.

Follow these rules to a T when I was pulled over. I talked with that cop about what kind of cars he tends to pull over.....needless to say it was BMW (I think he was a fan :) ). Still got the ticket.....160km in a 100km zone.

I got pulled over in Long Island for immediately making a left turn as soon as the light went on...cop followed me...I saw with her lights off so I was like oh shit....drove slowly obeying speed limit, then lights went on...cop said I should not have beat the oncoming traffic like that from a stop both ways.
OK so she asks for my L & R, then I also gave my PBA Leiutenant Internal Affairs card-also told her that my neighbor's sister is a cop and that I have "Donated" charity to the Nassau Police Athletic League (I think it made a big difference)...she came back and let me go:)
