    Newer E30'er, oil??

    Hey everyone,

New to the forum and to E30's in general; what kind/type of oil would you guys with experience recommend for my '87 325es? Has Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W-30 in it and has had it in it for a little while now but needs a change. Thanks & let me know

    I appreciate the assistance,

    -Jerod

I say stick with synthetic, it may cost a little more (alot more depending on your budget) but its so many times better than dino oil.

          LOL.

If the car all of it's life used dino oil, and now all of a sudden you start using synthetic what benefit do you think that would make ? Leaking ?

I see if you got a new engine, all new seals, then it's another story.

          imho of course.

Personally I use the generic "store brand" oil. I change it so often that it does not really matter. From what I gather, as long as it meets or exceeds the API standards that's all that really matters. I will never drive the car hard enough to where viscosity and breakdown would be an issue.

Here's a good read (its pretty short compared to most articles) about synthetic oils and dino oil....

If your eta is the only form of transportation then there is no reason not to spend the extra buck and use a better oil.
