    Snap water....

We are having some badass rain today...

So I am driving home from my buddies house and the intersection I pull up to is flooded over bad. Since I was already in it I just gunned it through to get to the road to my house.

Now my car runs like SHIT. It is super stuttery and it feels like I am lugging like trying to start in 3rd or something, but it whenever I drive. It stutters real bad or seems like its misfiring to hell.

The real joke is I didn't suck up any water. The intake and air filter are bone dry, so I don't think its flooded or maybe a burnt out spark plug.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Edit:

Oh this is in my mk3 btw, not an e30.

Nope, all the ignition electronics are bone dry.

Nothing is really wet thats whats weird... Just the tranny is soaking. There is a plug on the top of it which I wonder if water leaked into. Although I just looked and it is closed...

I had a problem not too long ago with my e30 a few hours after I washed the motor. Turned out to be the the throttle position sensor.

Get that replaced & see if the issue is resolved.

Agree- check the connector- very susceptible to getting wet.

Well it dried out and it runs 99% good lol. At WOT it fucks up still, so I pulled the codes today and cylinder 2 is misfiring. Guess I musta got some water in and burnt out a plug.

I once ran my land rover through about 4 feet of standing water after a flood. The road was closed and i had to be the douche that went through it. It died after the fourth or fifth time through, and wouldnt restart. A couple hours later, after it dried out, it ran like a champ!

The last time I had similar incident in the minivan, resetting the computer solved my problem. The coolant temperature sensor is located near the bottom of the radiator on the side and when I went through the standing water, apparently it cooled the radiator down just enough to give the computer a false reading.

Spray some WD40 on any electrical connections you think are effected and even can spray some in the distributor cap, plug wire ends etc.... It helps displace any moisture that might cause a problem from getting wet....

No, O2s will burn up from being in standing water if they are already hot.... its the whole 'hot to cold really quick breaks crap' deal
