    Vert roll bar?

I've searched and searched and all I could find was that there was once a guy on here who had a cool one built but all of the pics don't work anymore. Does anyone have any pictures of any cabrios with bars or any other cures for the flex? I've only had my vert a few weeks and I can tell the lack of rigitity is going to drive me crazy. Thanks,

    Ryan

When you say "vertical" do you mean a roll bar that goes from the front of the car to the rear?

Oh, right.. I know a guy who had one made for his WW2 Jeep. He actually went to a custom exhaust shop and had them bend out a few pieces of 2" pipe and then they fabricated a couple of flanges that would bolt up to the body. He did it in an H pattern where two bars went crosswise across the back section and fromt cabin area of the jeep and then he had another one that connected both roll bars together lengthwise.

I don't know if you are looking for something functional or if style is the reason but I imagine that a custom exhaust shop can help you.

Yeah, I did the research a while back. No one sells one specific for the vert (which is what you need). Your best bet will be going to a shop and having one fabbed up. Then have them make like 5 with the same dimensions and sell the other 4.. = profit.

I would even go so far as to seal it in plastic and put a couple of bar-code stickers on it to make it appear like it came out of a b-stock parts warehouse. Of course you do not have to say this when you list it on ebay or craigslist. Just show the picture and people will think that it was manufactured in a factory somewhere.

Maybe say something to the effect of "... I acquired this at a lot auction and it fit my cabrio with a few minor modifications but I am not sure what kind of car this was made for..."

Yeah my boss is good buddies with the owner of Turbo Technology. I'm gonna stop in there tomorrow and see how much they would charge to fab one up for me, maybe a few....

I remeber seeing a Car Audio magazine in the late '80s that had an E30 'vert on the cover - it was Axel Rose's car tricked out with stereo gear, roll bar, and BBS rims - wish I still had that issue to look at the car now that I have a 'vert!

I know exactly what issue you're talking about. My friend used to have the issue and I used to look at it all the time. A couple of years after the issue came out I tried to get a copy, and even called the editor, by they would not sell me one. Sucks.

I wonder if it's on the web.

Sad thing is, I threw it away!!! :curse:

It was a frontal shot, with Axel (or Axl - however the hell he spelled it!) standing up over the windshield.

Yea, sounds about right. And the whole rear seat or most of it was subs. Custom made door pods for a bunch of speakers. Was it a black car or red one?

Black w/ gold 3pc BBS rims I think. Been a long time, but I think it was tastfully done and low key other than the stereo and roll bar. The rest of the mods were typical BMW stuff - no wide body kit or any other crap.

BTW - Google and eBay have failed me - no sign of the magazine online.
