Bio-Diesel in the US is made of corn, a native plant to the region that can be distilled into a fuel, In Asian nations, rice is the most common nature based grain product. Qusetioning if anyone has heard or seen any bio-deisel production from rice... Should I further explain...?

sure why not ?? Is it beneficial over corn ? I currently do not use bio diesel in my truck as it is hard to find in my area.

No, I'm asking if anyone has any info regarding Asian countries using rice to produce bio-diesel...errr... ethanol, Then I realized I meant e85 Ethanol, not made from rice, not rice into bio-diesel...

I would venture to bet soybeans & soybean oil would be the predominate material used.

From what I was told, e85 was using a 15% share of all us corn crops for the 2006 FY , and would go up to as much as 35% by 2012... Thus, making products (dairy,poultry,beef,pork,etc.) more costly due to rising corn crop prices, and less reserves.

Over here we use suger crops to produce ethanol as the farmers are now competing with imports. But yeah i agree wit e30spdfrk until ethanol becomes cleaner and burns better from what ive seen in aus anyway i wont be using it.

I would think that this would change us back into an agrcultural industry again. Right now there are millions of acres of farm land that are not being used because farmers are being paid by the government to not grow anything.

Now that the demand for corn will increase, it only seems logical that farmers could begin to replant in their their fields and the money that they make on their crops will far exceed any government subsidies.
