Let's see how well you know your e30 stuff: spot the fake!

We are currently looking to offer euro grills for the e30 guys, and we found a company that produces these in bulk, but we have to order from Europe.

We were worried that the quality would not be up to par with OEM standards and no one would be interested, so we decided to pick up an OEM and a replica.

We were pretty happy with what we saw and we figured you guys have a good time figuring out which one is the OEM one.

The purpose of this would be to gather interest in the replica grills at a lower price for everyone on the board. If there is enough interest, we'll be ordering a shipment from Europe.

So have at it.... which one is the OEM one?

crap...I hit the wrong button and voted for the wrong one. Can someone fix my vote? I think the top is the fake and the bottom is the OEM.

              OEM vs Non OEM

Def. bottom one is OEM. Look at the 2 rings and compare how the plastic looks like.

I mentioned these are US grills... the Euro grills have to be ordered in bulk and we figured it would be better just to experiment with the US ones firsthand... then gauge the interest for the replicas if others would be interested.

We'll be releasing the answer in a little while... one people seem to have a clear opinion which one they think is the right one.

finish looks close, but it's hard to tell fitment unless on a car. maybe install them on the same side of the same car, for comparison's sake?

The foam looks wrong on the bottom one though. I believe the foam is denser and less open-celled on OE grills. That could just be crazy talk though.

^ If the interest is there we'll order a shipment. We want to gauge the interest to see how many of these we should buy.

Top one, foam doesn't go all the way to the end and the plastic has too much of a "shine" to it.
