interest in a ac retrofit article??

i'm think about writing one up, when i retrofit mine, it will list what you can and cannot do yourself, and how you go about it.

post your support below. and any questions you may have.

    btw i am a certified ac tech...so i know what i'm talking about :)

      I'm interested in seeing it.

The car I'm dropping my M50 into this weekend has/had Freeze 12 in it. I know the new compressor is R134a and would like to read what parts I need to change out.

I'd like it also, There was big discussion on it on roadfly but 3 different people kept saying completly different things about what must be replaced and what not.

On a side note does anyone need parts for their M20 unit? I removed my ac when I did the M50 swap.

depends what brand compressor is it as supposedly one can be swapped but the other can't with out a rebuild. I've got my good compressor off my 88 sitting in the garage but can't rember what model it was. My black on Black interior with the high 80 degree weather here is starting to get to mee with no AC.

On a side note the pump that was in my car is a strictly R134a Denso unit sold by BMW as a retro fit from R-12a systems.

Cheers, Cam. I'd like to see it too.

Do you replace the compressor? All the BMW Master Techs I've talked to said that this is a must-do for it to operate properly

A AC retrofit article would be great to add!

Even though I just refilled my AC with Tijuana bought R12 ;)

you're going to have to have an AC shop make you some connections so the m50 compressor will work with the e30 lines. Also, good luck putting the motor in with both the tranny and AC compressor connected. it'll be tight ;) that is, if you can get it in.
I think all you'll need is the dryer, r134a connections on the high/low pressure hoses and some new o-rings.. that is, providing that you had custom flanges attached
