tranny help i got robbed.

so i got the guys at MR. Transmission to rebuild the 3rd and reverse syncro 8 months ago . those crooks . they put a new clutch in, and did it all for around 2500. now my 4th gear syncro and 3rd gear syncro is broken again. they put on my file that a 5th gear syncro was purchased under all the parts purchased.. im trying to make a case out of this cause my warrantys up and i was just wondering if a 5th gear syncro could be used as a 3rd gear? if not than i got a case. god i hate this. im broke. any help guys?

it doesnt go into 3rd and 4th gear w/o grinding hardcore or me forcing a shift and throwing it hard into gear. i wish i could just beat his ass and slam his face on the counter.

sounds like you have some ball bearings floating around in the gears. Did they replace the roller and ball bearing units when they rebuilt it?

[/PHP]ya i think so lemme check. i got my new sony mylo so i can walk outside.k i got reverse syncro,reverse slyder,5th gear syncro&slyder,bushings,bearings,fluid,seal kit,brass kit,... thanks for the help. could it be the clutch bearing because after the original job was done, my i2nd mechanic said the clutch bearing was making a nasty noinse when i would release the clutch. the tranny guy said that it was a shield rubbing on something.

Man, the junkyard is your E30s best friend.

2500 is what I payed for a euro dogleg tranny.

Throw your tranny through the front window and find a used tranny in the FS section. Even with shipping you will come out cheaper than 2500.

I have 2 Getrag Trannies, on from a 91 325i miles and another from an 89 325i. The 89 had 148k miles when pulled. Unsure of the 91, but I remember it being around the same. Both are in good working order. $250 a piece. Shipping from 06484.

Did 2500 come with a reach around? But yeah it looks like you got a case, there is NO WAY you can use the 5th gear syncro rings on 3rd, they're totally different sizes. Plus it looks like their parts descriptions are kinda vague, ie. brass kit, and wtf is a 'slyder'? Is that really what your paperwork says?

soo now when i shift into third gear, i push a bit of pressure on it and release my clutch slowly and theres a single heavy click when the clutch is activated than it goes into gear. 4th gear is still shot. but sometimes in third i shift hard and the rod will go pass the sidewall of 3rd gear and almost hit my console. it shifts more deeper in third gear and passes where my 3rd gear would stop. it still grinds like hell in fourth
hope i explained it good enough. i went to the junkyard and got getrag260 with 90,000 miles on it.
