    Getting engine parts powder coated

For those that have had engine parts (intake, valve cover, etc) powder coated, what do you have to do before you bring the parts to the place that does the powder coating?

    Do nothing?
Remove the grease/oil from the outside?
Remove the grease/oil from the inside?
    Remove the cosmoline?

Make sure they are not dripping grease/grime. Other than that, they will (or should) media blast the part before coating, so you don't need to get too anal. Best thing to do is to talk to the shop so there are no surprises. I cleaned all mine pretty well, but that was mostly because I didn't want goop all over the inside of my other car and I figured that if I wanted to be *sure* it was clean before coating, I should do it myself. Any decent coater will make certain that the part is clean first, though.

^^^ What he said. The place I go to media blasts everything they coat, so you don't have to go nuts with cleaning.

Why not be anal with it? I figure that the cleaner it is when you bring it in translates to a better result.
