i dont want to sound like im giving up but...

Everythingoing fine but now my 325 refurb project sucks my balls. i had just gotten home with some new oil and a new drain plug (i thought the drain plug was leaking, its ironic, youll see) so i get inside my house for a cold cola and chill for a few. going outside to change my oil i notice a shimmer from under my car "what its that" i think to myself "ohhhhh.... i see its a lake of fucking oil" every drop of oil that was once in the car is now on my driveway. i am pissed. i cant find where it is coming from. so now i dont know what to do ..

    1) pay to have it fixed(btw im on a budget)
2)pay to have the problem found and try to fix it myself
3)scrap the project( i dont want to, the 318 just doesn't cut it anymore)

    Getting there

ok you put a washer on the drain plug?

Is your oil pan gasket leaking?

Lay under your car and look for where the oil is leaking from. since the car is off it has to be something low in the engine, because that is where all the oil sits.

Dont give up, just use your head and figure it out.

-So... is the drain plug stripped, or is pan damaged?

Check the op sensor located by the filter, or is the filter cross threaded?
I really shouldn't be too hard to trace the root of the problem.
Calm down, take a breath and don't give up.

it is deff not the plug or the filter and the pan is fine. i just had to step away from it for a day, so oil pressure sensor or the pan gasket would seem to be the likely suspects huh. those should be a fairly easy fix i'll check them out tomorrow thanks guys and i'll keep you posted

Or if worse comes to worse and you cant figure it out, do what I do, take it to a shop and tell them you cant find where the leak is. Tell them to call you when they identify where the problem is located before making any repairs. Once they call and tell you where it is and how much it costs to fix tell them you dont have the money right now and will have to take it back when you do... then fix get the parts and fix that shit yourself. Basically just got it identified for free.

but you should be able to figure it out without going this far, dont give up, it would be dumb to give up for such a little project.

That's why shops charge an inspection fee Karbin. It shouldn't take you more than an hour to diagnose a routine problem that a shadetree either overlooked or caused. If your shop doesn't pay you an hourly wage for this sort of thing (not true work) or a salery, maybe you should think of passing you MM test..... and getting a better one.
Or am I completly off base here?

Even flat rate, you can flag a half hour at least, more if you pad the job up with stuff the owner didn't know about. I've been flat rate off and on for over 20 years.
