    Steering wheel hub extension

I've searched, couldn't find what I'm looking for so sorry if this has been discussed.

What I want to do is extend the stock steering wheel back a few inches to give myself more leg room and stop having to bowleg while driving, especially on track, heel toe is a bit awkward and I usually hit my knee on the wheel, or my hands when braking and turning in.

Is it safe to do such a thing? Are there any existing products for this purpose?

I know there are momo wheel hubs etc, but I don't really want to resort to that just yet, I like mtech wheels and would prefer to keep that style.

    Thanks for any info.

all I have seen is the MOMO stuff. I was thinking about doing that in the future as well. Hell, I was thinking about doing one of those detachable wheels as well...

You could drill out the sheer bolts that hold the steering column up, move the steering column towards you, maybe even move it down/up some with shims/washers/spacers, and rebolt it to the same attachment points.

i would go with a momo wheel. The serring wheel in the e30 is like driving a boat and the smalle wheel feels a LOT better and will give you more room.

If your looking for a quick release i LOVE my tekniq snap-off system. It even retains the horn button

I had a MOMO in my last euro E24 and loved the seating position much more than I do in my current E24... for what it's worth...

I have a MOMO hub and a quick release for my OMP wheel. Sets it in a nice position.

I had an m tec III suede wheel in my m3 at one point. I went to a momo 350mm mod 78 and this provided me some more leg room. but the angle was still bugging me so I fabbed up a 1/2" aluminum block spacer to shim down the steering column. If you bring only the column down the wheel will be closer to your legs.

Your best bet is to go with a momo wheel of some sort. the benefit is once you get a momo hub you can get spacers for cheap and move the wheel even further if you wish. itsn' not really an option with a stock wheel.

Those are some good ideas. I have been wanting to do the same thing too.

I have long legs and stubby arms lol.
