          tick

i have been reading that our cars are born with a tick? so this may just be my engine doing what it does? i could try a valve adjustment, what is the worst that can come of valves that arent adjusted? Just dont know when i would be able to do it.

Do it in the morning when the engine is cold. The good news is that you only have 2/3 the valves of an M20. It should only take an hour, or maybe longer the first time. However, there is no guarantee it'll make any difference at all. Mine ticks a lot, but sounds mean as hell when I'm leaving Hondas at the light.

whoa over an hour for a m20?! it should take you 30 min max. it takes me 30 min to do my 535i and the afm is on top of the valve cover, not to mention the brackets that connect the intake manifold to the valve cover.

my m20 ticks a bunch, adjusting doesn't seem to make it any quieter. If they need adjusting and you let them get too loose you may break a rocker, at least that's what happened to the p/o of my superETA.

Not to be discouraging, but my m10 I just bought is actually really quiet.

The fuel injectors are often the culprit, to me it's part of the performance nature of our cars.
