can any of the mechanical parts of the 325i used in the 323i? theres one for sale here in reno, and they said it was shipped from Europe to the U.S. so im just wondering.
you have to be a bit more clear than that... are you talking about major components (head, block, gearbox = no) or the availability of service parts? I say snatch it up, put a an eta block in there and have yourself a 2.7L i motor.

thanks
Block: Same
Rods: Shorter than 325i
Pistons: Different
Head: I wouldn't do it on a 325i
Intake: Not onto a 325i
Exhaust: Not onto a 325i
Problem with the 323i is they're so old and rare in the US. If your 731 series head goes out you might be in trouble.
Block is different, not the same.
I dont think the exhaust will be a whole lot different, twin system standard.
Gearbox will fit too.
Not really, no, the only thing its like is the 2L M20. You can still find parts, oil and waterpumps are largely the same, timing belt can depend on the number of teeth. Lead sets are different, they still run a distributor. Clutch, etc no problems.
the 731 head is a direct bolt on to the standard 2.7 eta block. same combustion chamber shape as the lowly eta; but sporting the larger valves and ports as the 885 head. the 323 cam is good for an easy 6500 or so rpm, and coupled with 2.7 liters of displacement is surprisingly stout,............
So how much power with the 323i top end on a eta bottom end will this setup make? Cause i found a 323i Baur for cheap and thought about doing this to my eta.
