The Lamborghini Reventon will only be built in 20 cars and sadly all of them are already sold.

The Lamborghini Reventon is powered by a V12 engine that develops 650 hp. The Lamborghini Reventon has 10 hp more than the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

The Lamborghini Reventon has a price tag of 1 million EURO.

I am a total hick, and I know that because I think since the Diablo, they've all looked essentially the same - but I am far from a serious buyer, so I suppose that could just be the 'hater' in me talking.

I liked the Gallardo best of the bunch for pure looks, and I think it's the cheapest - go figure. I know nothing of tech specs though.

Ouch. Is Lambo owned by Audi? That's a bummer if so.

actually the pictures you posted are of the regular old $360K LP640.

                    This is the Reventon:

And yes, Audi does have a stake in Lamborghini , but can anyone argue that Porsche has not benefitted from its partnership with VW? And do not give me BS about the Cayenne, without the Cayenne, the Carrera GT, the upcoming Panamera and the Cayman would not exist. It's a buisness model folks, I would rather some soccer moms driving two ton Porshces ( which coincidently I've seen, at least in turbo form, completely desimate other so called sports cars on a road course) then have the company fall off the face of the planet.

By the way the Lambo platform is unique to the Murcieliago, the only platform sharing is between the the R8 and gallardo. And admittedly, a thoroughly re-engineered version of the Gallardo's V10 also whent into powering the current S8.

Watering down of the genes. Awesome with all the composites but really the steering wheels just cheeses it out.

I wouldn't even personally be able to hold an intelligent conversation on the influence Audi has had at Lambo, and in all reality the only reason I dislike Audi is that I had a 5000 & a 4000q back in the late 80's - the electrics in both were unreliable & poorly constructed, and I've never heard they got any better. Though the galvanized (wasn't that it?) bodies were years ahead of their time, the electrics were such an issue neither of mine were around for long & I was happy the day both of them left.

The only other issue I have is it seems a bigger company tends to dilute the "kick-ass" factor of the smaller companies it holds - and it seems an issue BMW even cares enough about, as I understand they are the only major player who is still totally owned & not farmed out as stock to shareholders.

4KQ's seemed to miss out on the process but the standard 4K seemed to survive. The new RS4 kicks butt, rode in one last week. Fast kinda portly but aren't all new cars that way?

Steering was a bit vague, but anything is compared to older simple E30's.

I will agree with you on the electrics, partially why they depreciate so quickly. I would normally argue that the increased gadgets in cars these days is to blame, but then I wouldn't be able to explain Lexus....

Mercedes is once again its own entity now that it unloaded chrylser.

Unfortunately for the smaller companies this is how they survive, or atleast become succesfull in the market, how long did Aston Martin flounder till it met with support from PAG? Arguably The reason we see so many kick ass porshces is becuase of their partnership with VW. Rolls Royce and bentley have had a virtual renaissance since the regins where handed over to thier parent companies.

Yes we occasionally get the random badge engineered nightmare, but overall some awfully great models have come from these mergers. And regardless of what we romantacize about when we think of classic porsches, bentleys, Rolls royces, and lamborghinis, they where horrible to live with for anymore than a weekend, they where unrealiable, and sometimes hard to drive.

People who work on cars are one thing, they will say anytting is reliable, and they would be right because they often do whats neccesary to keep things running as they should, unfortunately in todays market, enthusiasts are a VERY small percentage of the market. Most people want a car they can drive off the lot and only do preventative maintence to when they absolutly have to.

Arguably the uncertain nature of past niche cars was part of their charm, but the economics of todays market leave little room for that type of thing. Luckily we have companies producing cars like TVR, small groups making vehicles such as the Aerial atom etc. These vehicles give us an edgy feel, although they still largely use parts that where engineered by mass producers, development costs are just way to high and complex for any company to survive as they did back in the day.
