Its a nice setup, he has done a lot to it.
He has backed off the Alpina Police shit since i found the picture of his family portrait. I didnt have to p-shop it to make it funny.Im now E30less.

I still doubt they would let him use it. It's not the kind of thing you just "ask" some flunkie over the phone for permission for. That kind of thing has to be submitted in writing, legally notarized, and all that jazz.Originally posted by MattM20i think BMW NA just wants the site owners to ask permission firstComment

Oh that was funny. I don't even know what all this drama is about, but I do know that his car is excellent, and other than the intake its a very clean install. Very jealous of any E30 of that calibur...
but is all this necessary? This jungle gym?

Just checking, I remember the white car that is next to his red one in the garage got a lotta smack for having a rollcage that was "outta control" to most people. Just wondering, not messin'Originally posted by Eurospeed88Do you have any idea how rigid that car probably is now?
If he's going to track it, that will be a very nice setup.Reminiscing...Comment

Change it to "very heavy", and you'd be correct.Originally posted by Eurospeed88

For as overly complex as that cage is, half those bends & welds wouldn't pass a tech inspection. All those extra bars also add about 80 pounds without any noticeable amount of rigidity.

Funny but I don't know what guage tubing he made it from so it could be light. And on a side bar one tech inspector is differant from the next. The only true way to measure a welds strength is to NDI it.Originally posted by CharlieChange it to "very heavy", and you'd be correct.Originally posted by Eurospeed88

He was building Chevy's prior to this so for 2 years of doing BMW's it's not a bad start.Comment

Well, if it's a legal cage, most places want at least a 1.75x0.95 mild steel, which isn't the lightest stuff in the world.Originally posted by M-technik-3Funny but I don't know what guage tubing he made it from so it could be light. What really bugs me is that big bar right behind the driver's head. Even padded, with a seat back brace, I'd be scared of that. I also think most inspectors would take issue with that placement as well.
Does blunt have a circle track background?

He's a motorhead dude, aka American muscle. And yes I think he has some circle track under his belt.
I do agree with you over the cage, but I was just arguing a point. cages need to evolve.Comment

The mistake he made is to use the E36 radiator. Other than that it's cool.Adam Fogg- '88 M3
