Last week I sold an 87 325e. The kid drove it home and the next day the calls started. First the car would not start, he got a jump.T he next day took it to a shop his family had used for years. The alternator was bad. The shop also said the temp unit was bad and needed a new sending unit. I asked if the car died if you disconnected the positive. "they did not do that" the kid tells me. After replaced the sending unit and it not fixing anything they called BMW, they are told it would be 900$ for the parts. I tell the kid to bring it back and I would look at it. Another phone call and now the started was bad. WTF. I said bump start it and get it to me. They could not get it to start.
So I drive to Hillsboro Friday afternoon. I get there and after a few checks, I push the car, hit second and the car start right up. The next day I get it in to my shop and start checking for a bad ground. The ground from the body to motor was loose I tighten it and try the car. It start, every thing works fine. I was beside my self that they did not check this. Well after fixing it so fast I told the kid lets put in the shocks and spring he bought from me. He leaves two hours later with a e30 well on its way to being a cool car.
