I just keep hearing how everyone is downloading their stuff through torrents....why? Are there any adantages of torrents to something like Limewire? It seems like there is a lot of stuff out there as far as torrent files go....so please someone break this down for me! Thanks!

This should be in the off topic section but...
basically no central location, speeds can go as high as you can download, some torrents have a tracker so that you can' just leech and not let others upload.

Limewire = great way to get crappy files and haxors
The Torrent community as a whole does a great job of policing files to keep them clean, so consequently if you can find a file it is usually worth downloading. Many torrent search sites also allow you to post comments about the torrent after you've grabbed it so you can glance through reviews and be certain of what you're downloading before you even begin. Couple that with a ridiculously configurable downloading tool (I use Azureus) and you have a win.

Also if you don't know what you're doing i'd advise against getting into filesharing with torrents these days, far too easy to get busted and fucked.
