    e34 525i gas mileage?

OK so I need a 4 door dd, and will be selling my coupe.

I want something good on gas, so I was thinking a late model 318. or maybe an early 325e.

but I wouldn't mind sacrificing a bit of gas mileage for a bit more room, and was thinking e34 525i. I can only find stuff online doesn't seem correct (at least when i search the same sites for cars I've owned).

    anyone have the truth?

both. what year did they switch to m50? 90?

i would prob prefer an m50 as it has hydraulic lifters, 20 more hp, an extra cam, and probably gets a little better gas mileage

Not exactly the same motor, but my M52 equipped 528i gets a consistent 23mpg in mixed driving and 27 in freeway-only driving. Check out bimmerforums' E34 section and search, you'll probably get a million hits.

                Last year of the model.

It is a common tread that BMW throws in the goods on the last year of a model run.

With the e34 they fixed a few issues with the interior, such as door panels that fall apart, and they added some exterior bits. the grill is destinctly wider, and the body lines in the hood match the wider trend. It also has painted plastic side skirts and Euro side markers on the fenders.

The paint also seems to be of better quality on 95 and up BMWs. Alpine white, oxford green, black, and some of the other colors are all better on the '95.

The fit and finish is all together better on a '95 and considering how inexpensive they have become you can be pretty picky and get what you want for only a couple hundered more.

look at an exceptionally nice '94 then a '95...all things being equal you will like the '95 better.

                  We Love our's

We have a 1991 and we average about 22mpg in the city and 25/26mpg on the highway. We are fanatical with the maintance because these cars are really like the e30's because they can handle the high mileage. The only problem we had is are EMU/DME board acts up every great once and awhile.

Generally a little above 20mpg average. I believe 92 was when the m50 was introduced. The price difference between a 95 and 90-92 is ridiculous. Usually at least 2-3k more for essentially the same car.
