ok i had the shop cut weld in new sheet metal onto the floor of my car. I got it back and lifted the carpet, no more holes but they didnt cut out all the rust. They rocker guarded the shit out of the bottom of the car so i am not worried about the interior getting wet again, but i have new paint and cant go fucking around with too much. whats the verdict here guys, what should i do about the remaining rust that is now sitting on top of the new sheet metal?

Take it back and have them fix it. You paid them to repair it right? Sounds like they stopped short.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast

anything i can do?
i traded them a minivan for the repairs, later found out the guys are a bunch of low life scum. I doubt i will get anywhere with them , so i was wondering if there is anything i can do? the sheet metal extends past the rust holes so like i said the floor is solid. i dont have a lot of spare time, job and 2 kids under the age of 2 and one on the way so I think i will need to do something quick and relatively inexpensive that will last a while. You seem to know a lot, any suggestions here? thanks

If you can not do it yourself I would go to another shop and have it fixed again. It will just rust again and with winter coming soon, it will happen sooner than you would like.Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? What color is this wire? Is it the same as that one? You won't know if you don't go get in their faces & make yourself damn clear on what you expect. Use a permanent marker & outline where you want it cut & repaired so there's no "misunderstanding". Take pictures before & expect to use them in a small claims court matter. You probably have a Better Business Bureau in CA, make yourself knowledgeable.
If you make yourself clear you'll get further than complaining to a bunch of guy who don't even know you - sounds cold, but true. Sorry.
I don't know what other answer you are looking for - if you just want to paint it over with either Duro Extend (rust converter) or rubberized truck bed liner that is all I think we can recommend aside from going back to the shop that did the work & plainly drawing out what you expect.
If they're smart they'll see you will cause them more grief in court than it would just cost them to fix the shortcomings.
What does new paint mean in relation to your problem - also "rocker guard" - is that undercoating?
Post pics. Your description doesn't help.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
