I just did this mod after reading this post. The only person that paid for anything was my dad. He bought the UUC big boy for his M3 awhile back. I told him I was going to get the parts to make my own clutch stop when he told me he still had his old stock M3 clutch stop and it should do the job. It has a longer bolt and fits right into the e30's hole. It makes a huge difference. I suggest this to any e30 owner. If you can find an e36 m3 stock clutch stop then you'll be happy.

At SBI, we make clutch stops by slicing an E28 manual tranny mount in half and screwing it in the floor since the stud just happens to fit those threads. Granted it's not as cheap as this, but you get a nice big hard rubber pad in there which is a plus.

Once again, much praise for Dan's clutch stop that he made me! I love it.

Gary and I did our cars yesterday evening (well.....Gary showed me.....ok Gary did it.) and I LOVE it. I set it so that basically as soon as I let out my foot it catches.

Total Cost = $ 3.13 for two 'custom' clutch stops. CHEAP and EASY.

                I'm pleased. 8)

Is there a chance this clutch stop could actually decrease clutch life ?!?

Not really, if you make sure it absolutely does not engage when the pedal is firm against the clutch stop.. it should be ok. It's a significant improvement on driveability. I have yet to do it on my own car, but it will most certainly be done.

What about [/i]my clutch ? I replaced it a month ago with a brand new Sachks (hmmm, maybe i mispelled it!) and it engages just cm before the floor of the car...

is it just me or i cant see how this can help in gear changes? or the use of this at all? Would it account for clutch wear? as i can just immagine the friction plate slipping all the time. And when i see the thread first time round i thought you made a clutch stop to lower the pedal down to the same level as the accelerator? Then the same with the Brake pedal cause that would make sense to me.
