2002 racecar with an M12
Pretty amazing development. Also check out the 3.0CS with a S38 in the Customer Cars section.
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.Tags: None

I have a friend who is a tech for a rich person, he works on his vintage race cars as a full time job.
He was telling me about this aluminum tube frame vehicle with aluminum box welded/riveted cockpit. They race it in California.
Well it has a 2.0 litre M12 with ITB's. Redline is 10k!!!
Absolutely nuts, I will try to get some pics from him!
What did the M12 come from?
Anyone have more history/background on these lil engines?

The M12/X engines did not come in a specific car. They were race motors that could be used in sedans or formula cars.
The 1.4 motor that powered Nelson Picket to world champion in 1983 (84) was a twin turbo M12 with 1200HP in qualifying trim.
Those M12 motors are available in different versions.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

In Qual. trim they ran close to 1400hp, and in race trim they ran at about 750-800hp. There was no way they could run them at that kind of boost for a whole race.
Afaik.
