Anyone have an idea on about how much to ship...

A full 8 valve Volkswagen GTI engine? I mean head, block, harness, the whole smash.

I've got a buddy that upgraded to the 16v, and wants me to sell his 8v on ebay, and I need an idea to quote the buyer for shipping.

Do you have any idea on the weight of it? I'm pretty sure that you'll need some sort of freight service. I know UPS doesn't ship anything over 125lbs. You might want to check with FedEx, I'm not sure of their limit.

Oh, I know it will have to go through a freight company. I was just thinking if anyone had ever shipped an engine, I was wanting to know about how much they paid.

Well even though it's not a full engine I"m shipping an m10 out today but it's broken down into 4 packages from TN to AZ it's going to be $180 I've got the block in one package(140 lbs and UPS will ship it) then a bunch of other parts in a package, cylinder head alone and oil pans alone. If you shipping the whole thing complete it will have to be by Truck freight most likely.

I believe my neighbor's M52B28 from Spokane to Boise was ~$280

I believe Fed Ex doesn;t ship anything over 400 lbs. My S50 was shipped through Forward Air, their rates aren't to bad I think.
