    Introduction....

    Hello E30 Guys and Gals!

I am brand new to this forum and I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself as I posted to my first thread on your board today. I have been lurking for several months now and enjoy this board as much as some of the others that I frequent.

My name is Willy and I am addicted to E30's..... It all started with an Alpine white 1990 Cabrio that Mom used to let me drive when I first got my license. I then purchased my first E30 on my own, a lapis blau M10 powered 318i. Suffice it to say it has taken off from there. I have owned about 10 E30's since then and keep finding myself bringing them home. My favorite is without a doubt the iconic E30 M3. I have a beauty queen low mileage Sport Efaux 1991 that rests quitely in my garage and have owned 3 different E30 M3's. A close second is the IX which I have owned two of, but currently do not have a need as I am in an area of the country that does not require a lot of snow driving, plus I got sick of turning seized bolts on an IX that had seen too much bad weather and not enough maintenance. I think you get the idea that I have been around bimmers for a while..... so hopefully I can provide some solid input out of the gates and avoid all the noob bs. I am a CCA Member and also frequent S14.net and subscribe to the SIG. I joined this board because I am currently re-storing/ preparing a 1990 Schwartz E30 325is for some DE/ AutoX fun. I have found a ton of good info here and look forward to finding even more as I get deeper into my project.

The goal of this car is to drive and have fun with instead of painstakingly clean, obsesively wax and ultimately just stare at. The IS is the perfect toy for me because I know how to work on it and it won't kill me if I flog it a bit. I have already replaced all the seals and gaskets in the engine compartment, new t-belt, water pump, distibutor cap, rotor, ignition wires, belts, every hose, black powder coated intake manifold and valve cover etc. Yes I cleaned a bit along the way (Old habits die hard). I am now working on the suspension and brakes. I am rebuilding the calipers and fitting billstein sports and H+R race springs with RD sways. I have done the Turner front subframe reinforcements and will do the same to the rear when I get back there. I went with BMW negative camber strut mounts and Tree House eyballs as well as solid metal/ urethane upper rear mounts. I can't wait to get this thing on the road and feel some stiff, tight suspension....

Anyway thanks for reading. I look forward to being a part of this community.

Willy, welcome to R3V. Sounds like you have an advanced case of the E30 bug. Definately post some shot of all of 'em...it is required.

AKA "Crash Mounts", new strut bearings intended to fix the change in alignment after an E30 gets wrecked. IIRC, half a degree "less negative"

Thanks for the kind words. I am not certain if this forum has post count requirements before I can put pictures up.... I can probably host somewhere else and insert... I will look into that soon.

              Brian,

I am commited to the RD sways 'cause I like the multiple adjustment options and the beefy sway links that they come with. If I don't like them, I will buy a set of ST bars and put which ever I like better on the IS for events and the others on the M3 that gets far less usage....
