Seriously, get lots of sleep. There is nothing you can really do to 'cure' it; you pretty much just have to treat the symptoms.

hahah Dude I have it too.

Just got over the worst part. Im actually alright now I can ride my bike and stuff again just can't land on my spleen.

I remember waking up one morning and I couldnt swallow or talk because my throat and tonsils were all swollen. I had already been to the doctor and he told me it was nothing. I went to a walk in they put me on medication that gives 90% of people with mono a rash but I didn't get a rash.

Finally after the THIRD visit to my real docotor he gave me my blood tests results and said I have mono.

Its a weird virus since it takes 30-60 days for you to show any symptoms. The girl that gave it to me swears she didn't but shes old news now. The new girl im seeing however is not pleased since she met me when I was sick and expected me to get better, but now that she found out I have mono she hasta wait longer

Good luck man, once the fever and sore throat and stuff is gone you will be alright, so long as you can get used to having half your energy all the time.

EDIT: I was on the strep medication as well.

            Sold it.

About that Prednisone - not only will it give you a voracious appetite it also makes you a lot more emotional, maybe even throw you into fits of rage. I took some for several weeks to clear up an allergic reaction and my temper went through the roof and made me hard to be around. I also ate so much i gained 20 pounds and i'm a skinny guy. If you notice extreme mood swings or anger try to remember it's only the Prednisone and try to calm yourself down before everyone starts to hate you. It affected my Mom the same way. Nasty stuff.

As far as the mono, get lots of sleep. Jarvis just found out that he has it, so he's out of commission for a while, too.

So did your physician test you positive for strep, or did he just hand out antibiotics?

As everyone else said, get lots of sleep. But also don't push yourself when you start getting better. IT can take up to 6 months to get out of your system and if you go out and start over exherting yourself before it's gone it will come back and kick your butt. I had it my senior year of HS and took at least 4 months before I had enough energy to race my bike again.

Fucking wonderful. Some docs need their medical licenses revoked.

as far as the mono, sleep man, jsut sleep. You can take some vitamin c and zinc to boost your immune system, but sleep is really what it's going to come down to.

that, and more water than you ever think you'd drink.

As Brew already noted, I also just found out I have mono...
But I've had it for 2 months. Only been mildly affected up until now. I had strep throat 2 months ago, and the following week I got sick again with what I thought was just strep again. Nope - I've seriously had mono for 2 months and felt pretty shitty on and off during that time. Every couple weeks I'll run a fever for a few days then go back to only feeling just kinda shitty. It took 3 doctor visits before they sent me to the hospital for testing last week. Not eating AT ALL and getting 7 hours of sleep over 5 days with a fever of 104 is not fun.
Rest is the only thing that helps. You only get sick again unless you literally take a couple weeks off from life in general (meaning: do absolutely NOTHING). Good luck.

Actually I read on some sight that studies showed that with like 80 people the 40 that stayed in bed untill all symptoms went away took longer to get better than those who started returning to their normal activites when they felt able.

All in all it seems like a trickey little virus, that affects everyone differently. Im feeling alright now but I think I am going to sleep most of today.

                                Sold it.
