I wish I could put in permanent ink- "dont ever let your sister drive."

Also, I really dislike the constant squeaking of every little thing while driving.

Sorry if I've turned this into a rant session.
Sounds to me like an E30 is really not the car for you. If it is, I would suggest you sell the one you currently have, and look for a later-model E30.
Unfortunately it's not. If I were to sell my current one and get a later model, I would still probably not be happy with it, just due to the fact they are so similar. E36...... :)

My dad has an e36 M3. I've had to put over $1000 into the car just so I could tolerate driving it. While the car is fast, even the M3's stock suspension and shift lever just don't do it for me. I'm sure I'd like the car a lot more if I did more upgrades, but I'd rather spend the money on my e30 and other people have to drive the M3, so I can't turn make it uncomfortable for the average person.

Holy crap, Chris. That's a lot of mods.

I try to keep track of all mine on this page of my site:

I think I have at least 4 things that need to be added though, I've done a lot of little stuff lately.

I need to start looking into getting my car appraised or something so that if my car is totalled out I don't get f*cked.

Really. I put in over $1000 in getting my E30 driveable. And then maybe another G for the paint.

I'd just like to have a decent looking E36 (not M3, don't care) with a six cyl. Can be stock for all I care. It would suit me just fine. The e30 just feels too.... old.

I know what you mean. You simply want something newer.

What I meant with my E36 comments, is that after doing so much to my e30, it is just so much more fun to drive than the E36 M3. The $1000 that went into the M3 was mostly for aesthetics. I did Conforti Reprogramming, Euro Clear Corners, side markers, and tail lights, and European Headlights with angel eyes and color matched Eyelids. Oh, and the very last brand new Blaupunkt Toronto. I swear you wouldn't even know it was aftermarket, I sometimes forget. It doesn't use a black surround peice, it fits completely flush like the stock unit, the buttons remain black while the lettering or numbers on them glow just like the factory headunit, and there are TONS of different shades of color settings. The damn radio has the entire color scale from deep red to bright green and every shade in between. Seriously, I don't even know how many illumination options there are, gotta be atleast 20?

i chose #5. most of you will probably hate the way my car looks when i'm done with it... but it'll be fast.

Exactly. I wouldn't really care much about modifying it as long as it has the nicer OEM rims and paint. :)

And about the Blaupunkt, I got the Honolulu. It matches very very well. Only bad thing is that it has a nice blue button in the center of the volume knob. Doesn't bother me though. The deck itself and the rest of the illumination makes it look stock. Just dont like the fact that I can't do much customization on the Blau. It's a very picky receiver too, and skps easily.

                    Crap sorry! OT again!

I want to get my car running like how It was wen I first got it (tune up), then some milde mods and a breyton style bodykit, maybe turbo somewhere down the line.

Alright, I put myself down as a #1, but after reading through the thread and seeing what you guys have done to your cars, I'm going to say that my car will be more of a "#2".

So far, I haven't done a ton to my car, but I've only had it since last October, and the "to-do" list is long.

What my car has so far (89' 325is 5-spd):
                        -Zender Challenge 15x7's with Yokohama AVS ES200 225/50-15 all-around
                        -Ground Control "coil-overs" 350f/475r
-Koni SA rear shocks, Bilstein Sport fronts
                        -E46 M3 RSM's
                        -Z3 3.0 SSK
                        -SACHS Heavy-Duty clutch kit
                        -Venom chip
-Momo Competion wheel, shift knob, and boot (installed by P.O.)
-Pioneer DEH-P4400 receiver, Alpine V12 MRD-752 5-channel amp, MB Quart 5.25" rear woofers and Infinity Kappa 6.5" Separates in front

Plans, to be completed over the next 3 or 4 years:
-All dents and rust spots removed , full Alpine White repaint
                        -Genuine Mtech 2 kit
                        -35% tint and full shadowline
                        -5-lug swap (probably e30 M3, but maybe e36 front-end), coil-overs and Koni's
                        -e34 M5 throwing stars, 17x8 front, with 235/40-17 and 17x9 rear with maybe 245/35-17
                        -fenders rolled to hell
-M50 or M52 swap, with probably cams and some bolt-ons
-custom-bent exhaust w/ Brullen or similar muffler
-replace Pioneer deck with Alpine or Clarion higher-end receiver
I'm sure that I'm forgetting stuff...

I love my car, and I plan on keeping it for a long time, so I'm going to make it SICK.

Neither - I don't care to have the prettiest car or fastest car.

I like e30s and appreciate em enough just to enjoy it within my own confines. I have owned a few and never really modded them save the last two. It was my dream car from childhood and that's probably the main reason I have had a few (save other reasons) ....

They are my favorite car...and that's it.

before my accident my list was almost complete

i put myself in the "both, but im going my way" catagory

                            before my accident i had:
                            H&R Sport Springs
                            Bilstein Sport Shocks
                            Modded Airbox w/ K&N filter
                            Sony Xplod CD Player
Painted Intake Manifold and Valve Cover
                            Tucked Bumpers
                            M3 4.10 LSD
                            Jim C. Chip
                            Z4 Short Shifter

and there wasnt much else i wanted. my next plans were mabye a lightened flywheel or some sort of wheels. but nothing spectacular, the car was clean and subtle, just the way i like it.

although i can see myself in 6 years, after college and after ive got a nice job set up toying with e30's again. currently if i was ungodly rich these would be my plans:

                            Wheels and Suspension:
my favorite wheels of all time: 17 inch mille miglia MMII's and mabye some avs's

                            GC coilovers
                            or
IE race stage 3 w/ koni adjustables
                            or
                            H&R cup kit
                            -
                            some sort of swaybar kit
                            sparco strut brace
                            OR
if i got really tricky i would try and pull off a 5lug swap. although, obvioulys im not a professional and i dont know everything about suspension so before i did any of this i would defintally be resurching more when i got serious.

                            Mods that Go
screw the m20, ive always wanted to do an m50 swap and if i had the funds i would
                            option #1:
                            m50
                            #2
                            m50 + turbo
                            #3
                            s50 euro hybrid N/A monster
                            #4
                            s50 + turbo
who knows, whichever route i chose it would be fun.

obviously if i had the funds i would opt for a 6spd tranny also, and end up with a short shifter and a very low final drive (obviously LSD ;) )

                            Exterior
mtech 2 kit if i had an 88+
                            mtech 1 if i had pre 88
or if i got really tricky
pre 88 - bumper conversion and TRY to pull off something like jordan
post 88 - hell, i dunno, there are so many options

                            smoked euro elips
cf hood (painted unless the car is black or red)
                            mtech 2 spoiler
                            shadowline

                            Interior
who knows, there so much to do.

im sure there is plenty more in all these catagorys im forgetting, but whatever.

so maybe my next e30 will be in the "unforgettable" catagory. who knows.[/b]

I chose number 2. My car is pretty subtle on the outside, but underneath it's far from stock (as many of you know). I have a feeling that sometime soon the car will get stripped and caged and built as a PRO3 racecar. But right now it's pretty damn built.
