So i drive out to batavia ny today...

to pick up the girls car. its been in the shop for a few days getting some brake work done. on our way to the shop we drive by her old house (her uncle now lives there, her parents bought their grandparents house when they moved) it was the first time i had ever seen that house, and i noticed a huge barn next to it. i asked her if we could walk around in it (im weird and love shit like that) she said sure.

so here we are walking around in this old creepy barn with tons of shit just sitting around. then she says "oh i forgot to tell you, there is an old bmw in here, i think it might be an e30 or something."

i literally almost wet myself. "omg, take me to it."

we turn the corner and i am face to face with a fucking BMW 2002.

it was her mom's old car, and has been sitting for about 20 years. it looks really intact from what i saw, there is obviously some rust but its really not in that bad of shape all things considered.

what are common swaps for these cars? m20? any suggestions? ugggh if only i had a bunch of money.

i'll post a pic in the morning

    ny + 2002 = rustyasamuthafucker

If by some miracle that barn was climate + humidity controlled, and the car is not eaten up with rust- then maybe, just maybe, you can make something out of it without destroying your bank account.

OEM 2002 parts are EXPENSIVE as hell (most of them)- the good thing is that they are even still available though. I would keep an M10 in it, maybe do an M42 or M20 swap if you really just have to swap. They are fun as hell in good STOCK condition- but the temptation is strong to mod it- which can be fun too.

M20's and S14's are the most common swaps into 2002s. S14's weigh less, but what the hell, who cares, they cost a shitload. I'm doing an M20 swap into mine, after I get through the hell of restoring the body to get a badass paint job. Turbo flares and all that too. Quarter panels are giving me trouble considering they have a good load of bondo on them, but I'll get past that when I can get the car in the garage and try to get them straight enough to mount the flares, or lots of money later. Yes, speaking of money, its true. 02 parts cost a shitload. Drive it into the ground if you want to, but I've spent more than I'd like to currently admit on parts for mine...and I'm nowheres near done.

m42s are not a common swap. I'm going to turbo my 2002. Expecting a minimum of 250 hp.

there is a lot to do in buffalo. what are your interests/hobbies? what kind of music do you like? how old are you? when you go to bars, do you go to dive bars, clubs, or frat party kinda bars?

jam; i happen to have a euro m20 for sale, with tranny, that could fill out a 2002 nicely. perfect shape, only 99k on it

No way rusty shells go for a couple thousand. Rusty runners go for a couple thousand usually.
