Cleaned my engine and used seafoam... results... *pics*

So I finally decided to clean my engine and get all the cosmoline off, it looked like shit. I used a combination of the castrol super clean (purple bottle) and a spray can of "Engine Bright" the results are wonderful. I didn't really get to all the little crevices, ill do that next time. See the pics below for before and after cleaning. One complaint I have about after cleaning the engine is that it looks "dry" not sure how else to explain it. Does anyone know what to do to shine up everything a little bit? I've heard armorall at this link: http://www.apexcone.com/JimPowellHom.../ArmorAll.html but im not sure what kind of armorall he is using, anyone know? Thanks!

Also, I bought 2 cans of SeaFoam (from NAPA), that shit you put in the fuel, crank case, and vacum line, I follwed Ken's procedure (mostly) and I cannot express how amazing my car is running!!!!!! :D I had an idle problem, where the car's idle would be jumpy, and the whole car would sorta shake... problem solved!!! The idle sits right at about 650, and doesnt budge, its perfect. The throttle response is greatly improved, and my car feels like it runs like new!! I would recomend this to EVERYONE!! I now swear by it!! :D

      what do you mean?
is there any way to fix it?
it was sizzeling (like acid) but I thought it was just dissolving the grime.
      thanks,

Superclean will eat and dissolve aluminum in pure form.... it is potent shit. You arent supposed to use it pure on aluminum for that reason.

What kind of cleaning stuff do you use to clean engine bays, Jordan?

I havent cleaned my engine bay yet and it needs a good cleaning.

You need to dilute Super Clean before you use it; it's very concentrated.

                  Dan,
The armorall is just regular armorall in the spray bottle - nothing special. Just get the original stuff and follow the procedure. It'll make it look way better.

I know about the diluting now  on the bottle it said for engines you dont need to dilute, i forgot that this part was aluminum, and i just used it as is. It that really oxidation? cuz it seems like it was like that underneath the cosmoline... If it is, is there anyway to stop it from oxidizing? thanks,
                    Dan

                      Baking soda should neutralize it.

Very true, baking soda will neutralize even very strong acids (read: 12 molar HCl - I know from experience).

Tell us what the active ingredient(s) are on the back of the superclean, and we'll tell you how to un-fuxor your valve cover. :)

Are there instructions on the can, or are you guys doing it a special way? If you are, perhaps a quick writeup is in order :?:
