    BMW 2002 Question

I tried searching on 2002FAQ but that site is soo much different and huge compared to the normal sites I go to.

What is the most radical swap into a 2002? I am getting a free one and if the body checks out, I want to put a SBC or a Ford 5.0L in it for kicks. Or maybe even a Taurus SHO engine.
Anyone got pics of clean ass ones?

Keep it real and do a s14 swap, good thing is lots have been done and tons of info. 200HP in a 02 is killer.

S14 or M20. S14 weighs less, costs more. M20 weighs more, costs less. Choose one :)

Also around 3K for a complete engine. WORTH? I think not.

I can also get a complete Ford 5.0 for around 250-300, same for a SBC. Try finding an M20 with all wiring for that much!

Also very expensive if you are refering to T-Type and GN motors. All my friends and family are into muscle and V8s so as long as it can fit in the bay, we can get it running.

Radical swaps? I've seen all sorts of crazy shit. It all boils down to having enough money and fabrication skills. Do whatever you want, but what is most documented is by far the M20 and S14 conversions. Everybody is doing them, and you CAN find an M20 cheaply. I THINK someone on the FAQ is doing an LS1...or some sort of v8

Here's one that no one would think of doing. A 2.5 out of a early dodge dakota 2wd with a 5 speed. Do the Neon 16v DOHC head conversion, intercool it with forged internals and go with 25-30psi. 400+hp with a 4cyl. But it's still alot of money$$.

I did a m20 in my 2002 - easy conversion and very well documented on 2002faq.com. I then tore it down and built a nice turbo m20 motor, but the project stalled on the rack and pinion conversion so the motor went into storage - in my e30. Since everyone is doing m20 conversions now, I decided to do something different next time around. I picked up an LS1 and when things slow down on my e30, it will get shoved in between the 02 frame rails. :D

There was that TT S52 that was put in a 2002. S I C K. I think it was in both Roundel and Bimmer.

That is Paul Cain's monster and it's a TT m54 btw.

The most interesting thing about his car IMO is the way he setup the rear mounted gearbox and the custom torque tube using BMW parts!

I'm looking to do something similar, but in a less pure fashion.

I was kind of wondering what happened to you and your turbo m20 project! An LS1 sure sounds like it will be a beast +23676274 in an 02 though.o

Do a complete restoration and keep it all original. If you drop a ford motor in there the resale value probably will not be too high if you decide to sell it. Check out ebay prices for restored and original 02's. I think they fetch some good money. But an S14 would be really cool. Good luck with what ever you decide to do!
