    oem e30 keys

Does your door/ignition key look like this one here ? I purchased one and could not get anybody to cut it, there is local place here that a BMW dealer uses for they key cutting who told me it's not an E30 key so I had them cut a pair using their own blanks.

My OEM key was one like this one.

I bought another one on eBay and had trouble finding someone willing to cut it locally at first; I went to a local hardware store and they were able to do it, and it works great.

Guy has been in business for a LONG time, BMW dealer actually recommended him and the dealers don't even cut their own keys... so it's the right key then huh ?

My car came with some dinky old keys that I wanted cut back to original type, that's why I bought the blank . Doh.

That is NOT a e30 key blank.

That key is one of the router cut type keys used in e36, e38 etc.

I have what looks like that key above- It was ordered from germany by the dealer according to my vin. I didn't want the heavy lighted one.

here's a shit pic, looks the same to me

edit: nevermind, just took a look at the ebay one again. different shape.
