We are happy that you love your Vert, but we all have opinions and aholes so take our opinion with a grain of salt.
really it gets worse mileage than a 325? or a 318?

yeah it isnt the fatest for acceleration, but im young, its my first car and dont want something super fast that ill go kill myself in.. as long as i get to point A to B in style im okay with it!

i dont see how it is a useless motor :p
You replaced calipers on a car with 97k km... what is that 60k miles? That should raise up some red flags.

I am happy with your purchase and all, but in the end it was way to expensive for what you got (unless we are speaking canadian $)
Stop being so pompous about your shitbox...

Dont let them get to you. If you like your car as much as I like mine , you didn't pay too much for it!!!

          1. Cloth interior is rubbish in a cabrio (hence why most pay the high premium for leather).
          2. 320i is the most useless motor ever put in an e30: power of a 4 banger consumption of a 6.
          3. you overpaid.

Have you seen pics of his car - it is in great shape and looks very nice. Normally that would be way too much money for a 'vert (other than maybe a real M-Technic) - especially an auto - but his might just be worth it.

I paid $4800 for mine 2 years ago and have easily put another $5k into it. What is better, spending it one part at a time or buying something nicer for more upfront?

Good question. Honestly I like the idea of buying low and building a car in your own way. As I imagine he will do some modifying to the car. Yours has made a nice progression.

I just think some people have been on crack at some of the asking prices of E30's lately. They are not rare by any means and airline travel is still cheap so traveling is not out of the question for the right car.

You need to get together with the guy thinking of scrapping his pimp vert after he imports it from Singapore to the USA, once he gets the parts off it.

Anyone know who I'm taking about? --Dark color vert, sick as all get out.

He was just talking about importation yesterday.

On your car, you have to see Julien's point - fabric in a vert, ESPECIALLY in the PNW - sucks. You drive through even the smallest of mists, or leave your car out overnight & catch summertime morning dew on your seats & it's going to leave you with a damp butt vs leather, where you wipe it down & forget it.

Julien isn't slamming your interior, just the practicality in a vert. I see the difference.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I just realized something weird. Is the hood release on the left side for all RHD E30s? Thats a really odd place to have it.

Linus, that guy is me ;)

Just to add to the discussion........after driving with leather upholstery in my cabrio for a number of years in the tropics of SG I must admit that the switch to M-Tech EVO cloth was a nice one....no more sweat soaked backside ;) As for moisture in the air, I'm quite sure the average humidity coupled with the crazy annual rainfall of SG makes even the PNW look dry. Anyhow, whatever floats your boat.

Back on topic though....nice cab :)

yip, it is a pain. theres other things too that aren't too clever on RHD cars too, the brake master cylinder is on the left too so you need a lever system running across the fire wall which can cause some play.

excuse my ignorance but what is PNW? the only leather i like is in my mom's 05' ford f350 because it has nice heated seats, and im never in it, i think id sweat if i sat in leather for long lengths of time

to be honest i have no idea why my girlfriends dad got new calipers, i drove in it before they put htem in (right after it he imported it in) and there was nothign wrong, originally the car wasnt for me so maybe he thought it would be a better selling feature or something. then i started getting into e30s and realised he had one and put my name on it and sold it to me for cost.
and yeah im talking all in canadian currency, everything is more expensive here in Canada
