    1987 BMW 325i Motor...

Alright this is my 1st thread. I have a 1987 BMW 325i with an LSD diff. There are many things I want to do with the car, and many things that NEED to be done before I actually have this car legal to be on the road. My plan is get the car up and running well first (fixing all the problems it has i.e. missing parts, making the car run in working order interior-wise), drop the motor to have the car painted and to fix all the body work, then put the motor in, finish the exterior then have a nice little drift car.

Thats the plan atleast, and I'm hoping I stick to that. Well my question is, is the M20 motor strong enough? or should I just go ahead and drop another motor into it, and if being an OBD2 motor do the OBD1 swap and such.

Again - I am new to E30s, but I am a bit familiar to M20 motors, being the same ones that they use in the E34 early model 5 series.

    Thanks.

thats a hard question. the only reason i dont have an e36 motor in mine is cause i have very little mechanical inclination and my m20 works fine if you dont have a motor and you are mechanically inclined then do it. the stock m20 only does 0-60 7.8 its fast enough to have fun. but im a noobie to

learn to drive the m20 first. then you can move on to a bigger engine or turbo yours. just my opinion

m20 is a great fucking motor. If you have a good running, well maintained one, keep it.. and like previously said, turbo it when you want more power. M50 is a great swap, but not worth it if your m20 is running fine.
