    No newb section?

Since there's not a newb section, I figured I would post this here. Well, hopefully I didn't miss any newb section on this site. How bad would that be? Anyways, I've been doing research and looking at e30's on a few sites for a while and am very happy to announce that I will soon be getting one, hopefully.

Here's the one that I am eyeballing the most right now:

    1989 BMW 325i Coupe
    5-speed
    Red/Beige
    157,000 miles

From the pics, I can distinguish that:
    Interior: 9/10
    Exterior: 7/10

I have been told that it has a Recon. title, and that it "will run hot at times." I think that the BMW is actually a 325is because I swear I am seeing an s on the rear badge as well as the floormats.

They are asking $2295. Thoughts? Opinions?

If we had a nOOb section, we would lose at least 40% of the ban-stick battles.

Meh, If you can get them down to something like $1000-$1300 (play that salvage title card HARD), it might be worth a look.

How mechanically inclined are you? If it's a salvage, you better plan to never slam a lot of cash into it, but if you can identify WHY it overheats, you could have a great DD (daily driver).

If you know your way around a wrench, for that kind of money it might be a great 1st Bimmer - but only if you're poor & have more time than money. If you are a student, pass. You need to stay focused on your future. Do good in school & you'll be buying a new M3 in a few years.

Can you take it for a while? Then drive to some parking lot & let it sit while you hold the throttle enough to get the motor hot as it will, so you can see just how 'hot' this 'hot' is? If it's real hot I'd pass, as the motor might be fairly cooked.

If the motor is screwed, and it's a salvage title - then I'd pass. Just because a cooked motor means a swap, and it's already got a branded title, so you'll never recoupe your motor swap/repair money.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
