    It's not like i did it really fast and tried to smell it. I released pressure with great caution.

    FYI went back early this morning and replaced the tstat. Worked like a charm. The car is still there though - it was a one man operation.

      At least you did it slowly, that's good. I was just always taught never to touch that thing until the car has cooled down.

        Yeah I know it's dangerous. Releasing the pressure lets it cool down faster though. I made an even more stupid move today though - not going to disclose what though. Good thing i didnt light myself on fire.
