Anyone ever see this factory dealer install radio before?

I bought this off ebay the other day, its pretty cool, its the dealer installed radio for e30's that came without a radio. I think its pretty cool, I might clean it up and put it in my M3.

Anyone ever seen one like this before or know anything about it? Its not a euro thing, cause it has BMW NA printed on it. What I find that is wierd is that it has a single din cage, just like an aftermarket radio.

    Here are some pics:

if you put that in your m3 you deserve to be smacked upside the head. Seriously that is a big big pos, toss it. If you want something cool/period correct, get a blaupunkt toronto:

I wasn't asking you if you liked it:) Just if you ever seen one before. I'm not worried about sound, i don't listen to the radio all that much in that car anyways. I like the period correct look it has, matches my interior.

So what are you guys saying, its not a good radio? I mean, its got Dolby!

                      e30 radio

                      Jeff,

I haven't seen that model radio in an E30 M3...ever. Maybe all US E30 M3's came with dealer installed radios and that's why these aren't seen in these models much.
FWIW, The wonderbar or pioneer cd controller radios would ideally be the best way to go for your M3.

                      Pretty cool retro part though...

Factory tape deck (Pioneer, but the Alpine is nice as well) looks much better IMO, and you can find them almost anywhere. I will agree with liking the old school look though, I'm rocking a 20 year old head unit as well.

That looks like an outdated piece of shit and it doesn't even look nice, throw it out or on ebay

No it came with 2 little rods you stick in to remove it, just like an aftermarket radio.

I've got plenty of factory radios, this is very different. In the 10 years Ive been into e30's I've never seen one before.

The only thig that is keeping me from putting it in is that I won't be able to put my factory huge-ass CD changer in with it:
