bought a POS E30... what should I do? its riddled with problems...

I bought a really bad condition E30... more things are wrong with it than is good with it.

the GOOD thing is it drives really good. the bad things are the electricals and body. The Radio was stolen from the car and the blower motor, power mirrors, power windows, turn signals don't work along with the locks are having issues.

The previous owner of the car ghetto rigged almost everything, the blower motor was rigged on a switch and it was rigged to go on full blast or off, the power windows had direct power so they would never turn off and in turn would drain the battery. I took off the 2 wires that where getting direct power so the blower motor and window switch doesn't work.

The passenger side door doesn't open, if I put power to the power locks nothing happens, if I try to unlock it manually from inside it wont push, the handle inside won't pull. outside if u put the key in it will turn but resist really hard and will move a little and its possible to open the door but its very hard.

The E brake cable on the driver side snapped off completely. theres a little nub hanging off the driver side knuckle and the other half of it hanging near the rear axles. how hard is it to change out? lol

The turn signals Don't work on the car, but the Hazards do. all the lights in the rear I was able to get working except the 3rd brake light.

theres a good amount of rust here and there I'm not all that worried about it since I can do body work and if welding is needed then I'll weld it or stop the current rust by grinding it all off sealing it away and throw something over it such as a valence.

Any advice on what I should do? The reason why I bought the car was because of how nice it drove and it was well under 1k for the car. I'm thinking about fixing as much as I can so I can use it for winter.

    Check fuses? Check relays?

Good luck with the car, I'm not too smart, so I can't help you too much!

      chip away.

if rust doesnt bother you, than everything else is just a re-wire away.
setting up the mirrors to the switchable power is very easy. (like the windows)-just get a multi-meter or a cheap-o voltage meter (light bulb w/ground wire). connect to a wire that is on when the car is running, yet off when the car is off.

the blower motor is livable, if the temperature works, you will at least have defrost and heat when you need it. the blower motor is also designed to be able to work in full blast as a last resort when other things fail (like switchs).

otherwise, keep on the lookout for a clean, maintained e30 and use this one for a parts car. (and a drifter)

these models were highly engineered and built well.
worth it to keep it, but if the door cannot be fixed, use it as a track car.

As far as the passenger door, I'd say try to get the door panel off enough that you can play with the mechanics of the lock mechanism. My blower only worked on blast when I go my e30, the fix was cleaning off the contacts which can be reached through the engine bay, under the wiper motor area.
