E34 diff internals

Can E34 diff internals (525i w/ 4.10lsd) be stuffed into an E30 housing.

short answer: yes

long answer: yes, but you need to know what you are doing or the diff will likely either howl like a mofo, or not live very long. Also- this is only true when talking about medium case to medium case diffs- basically any E30 6 cyl (or M3) diff can accept any E34 6cyl or 530i diff internals (basically all except M5/540i)

Rebuilding or swapping gears is best left to a professional shop that has experience with BMW diffs .

Well , all the above is relatively simple ...untill it comes time to torque down the nut on the end of the pinion .
Thats where the pro part comes in . :D
