If it was just a rolling shell for about $500, what kind of taxes/fees would one be looking at in order to get an E30 wagon from Germany to the states here.

In other words, $500 could turn into $???? after all is said and done.

and for the OP: No. the easiest solution by far is to buy one in canada and cross the border, then swap vins. illegal but doable. Or else you are looking at 10+k to get one, especially with the low dollar.

I'm figuring the reason for importing a roller would be that it isn't considered a full car, and that VIN's could be "accidently" swapped at some point while the car is in storage.
