Why does my computer keep freezing?

This is like 5-10 times per day now.

    - It's not overheating
    - It doesn't have a virus
    - It doesn't have any adware
    - It doens't have any spyware

    WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

I'm seriously NOT KIDDING, if this keeps up, I honestly think I might smash it to peices.

*EDIT* Ok, I just ran Ad-Aware, and it found 73 new items. We'll see if that helps, but I doubt it...

      Welcome to Microsoft.

What OS you got running? The only ones that dont suck fat nuts are the NTFS based ones. If you need XPCorp... well......

Interesting. After I ran Ad-Aware this time it told me that it needed to reboot to finish removing something. I clicked yes and when I rebooted, it was running again as the computer restarted. When it was finished, an XP notification box popped up that said:

"The system has just recovered from a serious error"

        Anyone know what it means?

it means that XP finally got to do a memory dump, if it shut off abruptly beforehand then it never got a chance to do a memory dump so it never knew the shit hit the fan. Now it finally was able to check the memory dump to see it had a problem.

Ad Aware probably installs itself. Im not sure because I hate those programs and always do it manually.

So do you think the freezing problem should go away now?

I rely on Ad-Aware because I'm not comfortable enough to go digging through my registry to hack all that shit out by hand. :D

*EDIT* Still doing it, I just had to reboot AGAIN. That's 8 times today.

how is it crashing? Just abruptly resetting with nothing instigating it?

No, it dosn't restart, it just freezes and stops DEAD. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, right in the middle of a song, browsing the web, whatever.

No strange noise, no weird error message. The computer just locks up.

don't always look at the software aspect of the machine... you could be having problems with your RAM or Video card. try updating drivers ect...

If all else fails format and do a clean install, it will feel like a brand new computer.
