Door Latch

Hey guys,

So today it was about -30 outside, and my rear drivers side door was frozen shut. It took not much effort to get it open, but after I did, the latch that keeps it closed is now faulty.
When a door with a good latch it closed, the latch locks upright, until the handle is pulled. Minehas full movement, but refuses to lock in that upright position, and as a result, the door won't stay closed.

Any ideas how to fix this?

pk, if you have a fix, dont you think it wise to share it in the open?

Well he was just offering to sell me one, in case it's broken.

If anyone has any ideas how to fix it, I'd much rather do that than buy a new one. I'm taking it apart today.

Clean it up and lube it. If it's still not working properly, then I'd replace it.
