    The story on S4's?

So what's the scoop with these cars? I really don't know much about Audis, but noticed a nice 2000 S4 for sale by my friend's for only $18k. I'll probably be buying a second car soon for a daily driver...well at least something more streetable than my E30.

Any opinions, tips, experiences welcome on these cars.
    Thanks!

S4's are cool, but 18k for a daily driver is a bit much

        They are fast.

An A4 might be a good alternative since it's just a daily driver. Not sure about how Audi categorizes their chassis, but 18k for an S4 sounds likely the older, rounded body style.

but if you got the bling, then go for it !

I definitely want something fast. I was originally thinking a 94-95 540i or an E34 M5. But I've always liked the S4. These things are a bi-turbo V6 which scared me a little that the engine might not last long. Looking on eBay, the 2000's are all about that cheap.

SRT-4's are ugly as hell, and ultimately no matter how fast... they are still a neon, and fwd.

Wrong wheel drive, if you ask me.

I think an S4 would make a kick-ass daily driver. AWD for shitty weather, 4 doors, and twin-turbo's for easy modding.

True. For some reason I'm still attracted to them though :? . Great deal for the price I suppose.

                          My thoughts exatcly.

And Jordan, even if it's ugly, it's the best you can get for that price range, it's fast for it's price, and with warranty you dont have to give a damn with things breaking on you.

It's a good daily driver, has 4 doors and a lot of sport-ish ( luxurious/sport ) items that come standard that make up for a good daily driver.

Whenever he's tired of the ugly fwd, there's the e30 in the garage.

btw, despite the less than ideal drive configuration, an SRT4 with less than $1000 in mods will work 95% of the cars on this board at a road course, and a majority of cars on the e36 boards, while having a factory warranty, and costing less than $20000 brand new.

                            but, whatever. audi's are heavy.

its a pretty sick car.. but things can go wrong real quick.. i have a 2001 that i'm waiting to get rid of.. I had massive problems with the sycnros and trans in general... plus my turbos are pretty much shot...

i was going to buy this car out of my lease, but the dealership would not maintain the level of service on it that i demaned (basically becuase it was a lease car). So now i'm stuck with a piece of shit that would cost probably 6k+ to fix... so i'm going to give it back...

its crazy how much the price went down on them. they do not hold their valve.. you can buy them for 18 - 19 for a nice one.. they listed at 40k two years ago... my lease buyout after 39 months would have been 23k... it just blows my mind..

however the AWD is sick... i had to relearn how to drive after i got my e30...

maybe one day i'll go back to audi, but i doubt it....
