I had been planning on buying some studded snows to put on my 14s but I scored a sweet set of Gislaved Nordfrost 3s off some customers e46 that my boss was going to throw away. I slapped them on my RXs and so far it's been great! I'm sure when it's total ice it might be an issue and the 205/55/16 size leaves me with some fender rubbing over certain bumps but this was the whole reason I bought my coilovers in the first place. Now I just have to find some time to get my car someplace warm long enough to crank up the ride height an inch or so...
ive always stored mine. this year im driving my 88 with snow tires and they are pretty amazing. i can walk right up my super steep driveway with michelin alpine something or others. wow these are fun cars in the snow.
eat an snow covered dick
For some reason this reminds me of MARK in PA or whatever the fuck his name was on bimmer.org
When I got my cabby back in 2001, I bought it from a guy in NJ. My mom lived up there at the time and she and her husband picked it up for me. When I flew up to get it, there was a nasty ass snowstorm that hit. Driving it back, From the time I hit the PA border until I got to Columbus, OH it was just dumping snow.
That was my first e30, but I had been used to driving RWD cars in the snow having done it for around 15 years by that time, so it was no big deal. It came through like a champ.
Is your 88 the track car? You must have another one or something?
no thats my 87, i have too many cars. im just sick of storing everything. im going to drive my 88 all winter. its fun but this morning my washer pump stuck on and my hood is completley blue. it pumped a gallon of washer fluid all over it.

I've had the same issue with the washer intermittently for years. I found a bunch of broken wires under the front right quarter panel and fixing those helped it but lately it's been doing it again... I figure it's a fucked up version of rain/snow-sensing wipers.

Lol that would be a sight to see. Well, my car has been in california all its life until now, and this is the first winter it's been through. So far, no weird things have popped up except for one of the winshield wiper nut covers froze and shattered, the tranny synchros are really bad in the cold, and some solder joints that got brittle and broke off. Hope that's all that happens-3.5 inches of ground clearence in the snow isn't exactly forgiving.
Haha, a friend and his e28, and me with my e30 spent a good chunk of the day drifting on top of a parking garage. I think i'm going to put it on youtube :D
Blunt if you want to really experience an e30 in the snow you need a e30 that was made for the snowy backroads of the northern states. If you want this can be arranged for an empty parking lot lacking light poles and your '87 for a few hours.
