    refurbishing your shadowline trim

i did a search and all i found was how to shadowline your chrome trim.
i just picked up shadowline trim from a 318is part out, and was wondering if there was anything i should do to treat it before i put it on the car (less messy off of the car) to keep it minty?

    thanks,

isn't it originally anodized black on the aluminum?

        Yes I believe so .

Just thought it would make a good base to just respray over , gotta hold up better than the non-shadowline .

Shadowline is painted black, no anodization.

Simply scuff it with scotchbrite and shoot it with SEM Trim Black.

Regarding this.. I'm in the process of putting a few pieces back on after being painted, and I'm wondering how to get the back window trim back on (coupe). Do I need to pop the back window out from the inside (rubber), insert the trim into the rubber, then install it all at once? It doesn't seem to want to go in while the glass is in.

You need to open up/widen the grove/channel while you work the trim into it .

Helps if you've done it before or have the right tool .
Tool is easy to make also .
