hey guys. i just got an e30. it's a 89 325is. here's a picture of it:

i know it looks a little rough. i do have the passenger's seat, but i took it out to replace the dash. the story behind the car is that the wire harness caught on fire under the dash, so the entire wire harness has been replaced, as well as the dash and instrument cluster. the good news is that it runs great. the transmission was just replaced and it has a brand new clutch. it also has some very clean stock wheels. as you can see, it's missing the IS lip. i've searched through scrap yards and found nothing. im debating whether i should buy a new lip or go for maybe mtech II?
oem us ellipsoids are on their way. came with sealed beams. didnt even bother installing them. so here's a few things i want to do to it, and hopefully i can get all of your input.
suspension: after reading and reading more, it seems that the suspension of choice (besides coilovers) is bilstein sport shocks with h&r sport springs. im not looking for incredibly low. i want it to look good, and i dont want to bottom out. do you people with lowered cars ever scrape your IS lip? i would hate to buy a new lip and have it broken the first time i go up my driveway... some input on a *cheap* suspension set up, and what to do about the lip, would be appreciated. oh and eventually i want a strut brace...
engine: im gonna get a k&n cone filter and a heatshield. i care more about the sound of the engine, i know it doesnt add very much hp. im probably going to either get a custom catback, or if someone makes a catback, who? i want a somewhat deep, louder than stock, sound. any suggestions? later on i might get a performance chip. mostly for the deleted rev limiter...
lighting: my new ellips should be here in a few days. im curious about the stock output, but im also very interested in some HID's
. specifically the group buy on r3v. im also debating doing jordans diy smoked headlights. they look pretty damn good.
sound: sound is one of the most important things to me. im probably gonna replace head unit and all stock speakers with pioneer. also two 12" kenwood subs
. im planning on putting a flip out 7 inch touch screen head unit in there. im also planning on replacing all the stock speakers. i've looked it up before, but i cant remember what size they are... anyone know? also, is there a stock amp? if so, i should need to bypass it. i'm also thinking about making a sub box, like the one in this post. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...29&postcount=4
best part is that it doesnt take very much trunk space. my stuff wont be quite as powerful though...
exterior: i basically wanna make most of the exterior of my car black. im going to have the windows retinted. im probably gonna get smoked turn signals from abrahamsmotorsport. im too cheap to get real smoked tails, so im going to try making my own. again, not sure about the headlights yet. also want to black out the window trim. im gonna keep the kidneys and probably foglights stock though.
