If you can't afford jackstands can you afford to own a car at all?
Let alone replacing or maintaining an ix driveline?

cinder blocks with wood over them works well enough for working on stuff.

If you have to pull the subframe and trans, you DON'T want to use shit jackstands. Come on dude, would you use 19 cent rubbers to protect yourself from HIV? Sears SUV 3 ton jackstands are like $20 a pair on sale.
reminds me, i saw a pack of condoms when i was at the 99 cent store getting candy for a movie last night....99 cents for a box!

im so tempted to call pick and pull to get the car but there is no suspension or wheels on it....my parents would literally kill me if they saw it being dragged on the driveway, i still gotta get the motor out but i just dont have the energy to cut out the front end section to even access the timing cover (smooshed in). I been driving 20 mins to a friends house to work on my car but the gas is eating me alive lol

uhm, go to any department store - a set of jackstands is like $20.

I guess it depends if you think your skull is worth more or less than that..

I know bricks are tricky because they can crack and break apart, wood laid on its side in a sturdy manner can hold weight, I see cars in the junk yard sitting on steelies welded in the shape of an upside down T with one laying flat and another steelie standing up welded on top.

i really really need my jackstands to work on my car but they are currently supporting my wrecked parts car.
is there ANYTHING i can buy on the cheap that i can use to keep the car raised in the air like it is now? I dont want to use bricks cause thats a lot of bricks to use, i still need to pull the tranny, diff, and subframe so i need at least that much room to work under....any ideas?

    thanks
