Doesn't sound like you will rent a car -so if you have a chance - drive up mulholland to Griffith park. (watch "Rebel Without a Cause" if you can before you leave...It's Black and White - but good) [ Griffith Park - 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles, California, USA ]

Chances are you will see a "super car" on the way up or down - ...

That will kill an hour - not to mention the views of some really awesome smog - take a sandwich. Stay for the light show if you are board.

Sounds like you are with family or friends - don't go to the tourist traps. Say NO to the tar pits. Suggest the LA farmers market in downtown LA - it's insane - ever culture under one roof - I kid you not - it's cool, really mind blowing for your a first timer in LA. Spend $2 and buy something strange and eat it. Expect to spend $5 on parking.

Restaurants in LA use to be so bad that they now have huge A, B, C, D things in their window telling you how clean they are - B is fine - don't eat in a C or D - you will get the aids I think...

Leaving LA and heading north is a road called PCH - it is one of the best drives you will ever take - the ocean on one side and hills on your right. If you have time - just go for a drive. Even in a honda, you will never forget it.

If you insist staying in LA - check out the chineese(sp?) theater - and all of hollywood/westwood. It's good clubs/bars/people(well not so much the people - unless you know where to go)...

Bring lots of money - and enjoy...then leave...

Nice George. I've been before, but that definitely helped. It kinda sucks because I'm staying with a friend who works during the week on long hours, and I don't feel like renting a car.
